The students of the first cohort of the Higher Technology in Port Logistics program have begun their community service internships as part of the Raíces Marinas: Culture and Sustainability in El Morro project.
As part of this initiative, the students are conducting training sessions for residents on how to care for the environment of El Morro Port and the conservation of the dock, a key space for the community. In addition, they will develop a proposal for the improvement and treatment of waste in the fishing port, including:
Survey of information on current waste management.
Training on waste management and environmental emergency response.
In a later phase, students from the FIMCM's Naval Engineering program will present engineering studies with proposals for improving the port's infrastructure. Fiberglass construction workshops are also planned, providing sustainable solutions and innovative techniques for the community.
This effort reflects FIMCM-ESPOL's commitment to quality academic training and positive impact on coastal communities.
