Biologist León Vergara, research technician at FIMCM-ESPOL, has successfully completed the online phase of the IOC Training Course and Identification Qualification in Harmful Marine Microalgae, organized by the University of Copenhagen and IOC-UNESCO. This asynchronous phase included 40 hours of virtual training focused on the identification and analysis of harmful microalgae.
This training is part of the Technical Cooperation Project RLA7028 (REMARCO), funded by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA - IAEA). This regional project seeks to strengthen scientific capacities for the sustainable management of marine-coastal ecosystems in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Through initiatives such as this, FIMCM-ESPOL reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence and specialized training in the monitoring of toxic microalgae, contributing to the development of marine research in the region.
