
Last Friday, March 14, ESPOL's School of Maritime Engineering and Marine Sciences (FIMCM) hosted the Seminar on Promotion of Energy Efficiency and Conservation, and its relation to Climate Phenomena, an event organized in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
During the seminar, experts addressed key topics on sustainability and the impact of climate change on energy demand:

🔹 Recent Climate Conditions: El Niño Phenomenon 2023-2024 and Drought Epochs - Jonathan Cedeño, docente investigador FIMCM.
🔹 Influence of Ambient Temperature on the Growth of Electricity Demand in Coastal Cities and Galapagos - Jorge Ortiz, CELEC (Virtual).
🔹 Heat Pumps: Sustainable Option for Energy Saving - Javier Fontalvo, IIGE.
🔹 Reduction of Electricity Demand through Energy Efficiency and Good Practices - Daysi Loachamín, MEM.
The event concluded with closing remarks by Nanako Hirayama, JICA representative, highlighting the importance of these initiatives to promote the efficient use of energy and mitigate the impact of climate change.
